*It feels wrong for some reason for me to write a post about our happy times on vacation, when the world is experiencing so much pain and suffering right now. Since this is my journal, I feel it is important to sometimes share what is happening around us. There was another attack in France today that killed over 70 innocent people. People who were walking to go see fireworks. People who probably had a very normal & fun day with family and friends. People who didn't see the end of their life coming so soon. It goes to show that guns are not an issue here in the world. We have very evil men/women who desire to take the lives of others using whatever tools they have. That is their only goal. It makes my heart hurt so much, and I wonder what life our children will have as they grow up. Faith plays a huge role in our life, and it will continue to do so but it is just so frightening how quickly a life can be taken. My heart truly aches for the people in France who lost loved ones.*
We spent the morning of the 4th at the Lodge. We had intentions of going to the parade in town, but once I got everyone ready and loaded to go eat breakfast, we decided against it. Sorry guys! It was crowded, loud and hot. (I also had to run from our car to nana's house to grab things we left...that was a little over half a mile...they blocked off roads because of the parade) We decided to make the drive back to my parents house to enjoy some festivities with them.
Before we left, the kids were feeding the mules (donkey and horse?....I think.)
Gosh these girls are lucky lucky to have the Grandma that they do. So thankful my kids have such great family members who surround them!

Crew was trying with all he had to shoot that gun.
We made it to my parents after what seemed like forever! A blow out, nursing stops, and potty breaks take up our road trips these days. But it was fun to all be together.
Fun fact: My kids wanted nothing to do with this slip-n-slide unless a family member was helping them.
Ellie was the best helper this trip!

The one and only GG! We loved getting to spend so much time with her this trip. She always makes sure to pack her purse with a lot of candy (laffy taffy) for the kiddos. They adore her.
So of course...Alex had to stump my family with the "Green Glass Door" riddle. (ok I made him) Man, he had people super confused.
While figuring out the riddle, I had these two take a quick picture.
Goodness he's cute.
My dad was honestly the funniest person to watch. He denies it, but he was getting super mad/frustrated. He figured it out, THANK GOODNESS, but man alive, we now know never to tell him a riddle again.
It was so nice to have family take Peter off my hands sometimes! He is super heavy!

We ended that fun barbeque with some ladybug hunting. Crew was fascinated with the color of the bug. I love how observant he is.
